Our Story:

Halton is a vibrant local authority with a rich history and heritage, featuring two iconic bridges that connect communities across the River Mersey. Located in Cheshire, Halton boasts excellent transport links between Liverpool and Manchester, as well as close proximity to both Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester Airports.

Our progressive community strategy aims to bring about meaningful, long-term improvements that enhance lives. It’s an exciting time to join us as we develop new policies and transform the way people access services.

We are immensely proud that when asked what’s great about working for Halton, the most popular response from our workforce has been ‘our colleagues’.

Our Team:

Environment Services is responsible for a wide range of council functions.  We keep the streets clean, provide refuse collection services, and deliver award winning parks and open spaces.  We are the custodians of the local environment, and are keen to improve the offering across these cherished facilities.

Our updated Trees and Woodlands Strategy was adopted by the Council’s Executive Board in 2024 which, alongside initiatives such as the Big Halton Forest, shows our commitment to enhancing the quality of the tree stock within the borough.

Your Contributions:

You will be passionate about the role of trees within our urban forest, and committed to ensure the council’s tree stock is enhanced and thrives for years to come.

You will have a good understanding of arboricultural practice and experience of tree safety inspection, and have previous experience in recording visual tree inspections.

Knowledge of trees in the planning process would be welcomed, particularly in relation to the management of Tree Preservation Orders and interpretation of BS5837 reports.
