Help Shape the Future of Inclusion

Halton Borough Council and NHS partners are seeking innovative, passionate and highly skilled professionals to join our new Experts at Hand Team, an ambitious and transformative service designed to strengthen inclusion, build capacity within mainstream settings and improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team that brings specialist expertise directly into schools, early years settings and colleges, ensuring that the right support is available at the right time.

Through coaching, modelling, consultation and practical intervention, our Experts at Hand Team will help educational settings develop the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to meet a diverse range of needs.

Hours: 32.5 hours per week based at Rutland House Runcorn as well as schools and settings across Halton and beyond.

Your Contributions:

There’s an exciting opportunity to join the Specialist Teaching and Advisory Service in Halton through the new ‘Experts at Hand’ model. We are a team of specialist teachers and advisors who support staff and pupils in schools with a range of special educational needs. Our vision is to ensure every child is supported and included in their local mainstream schools where possible and upskilling school staff is the way to do this. 

More specific responsibilities include:

  • Modelling good practice in classrooms to demonstrate a range of strategies, approaches and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Improving learner outcomes through evidence-based pedagogical practice, curriculum development and collaborative working
  • Advise and coach teachers, leaders and other educational professionals on the best and most effective ways to meet the needs of children with SEND in the classroom
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment design and apply challenge where appropriate
  • Upskilling and supporting staff in inclusion or resource base provision to maintain high standards
  • Deliver a range of training in the areas of cognition and learning, SEMH and communication and interaction
